Pakistan records over $1.61bn increase in exports

Pakistan’s exports rose by over $1.61billion, with total exports reaching $26.90billion in the first ten months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), this reflected a 6.40% increase compared to $25.27 billion in the same period last year. Despite the global trade slowdown, textile exports alone grew by 8.41%, totalling $14.83billion from July to April.

The report stated that textile exports alone increased by $1.15billion over the ten-month period. Major contributors included ready-made garments, knitwear, bed linen, towels, silk and apparel.

Meanwhile, exports of manufacturing equipment recorded a 6.61% increase, reaching $3.50billion. Key export items in this category included carpets, sports goods, footballs and other related products.
