Summer vacation extended in Punjab schools until August 31

LAHORE: All public and private schools in Punjab will now remain closed until 31 August, following a decision by provincial authorities to extend the summer holidays.

The schools are now scheduled to reopen on September 1, as announced by Punjab’s Minister for Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat.

The extension applies to both government and privately run schools across the province.

Why the extension?

The move comes amid a pattern of fluctuating weather, where intermittent rain is followed by intense heat and high humidity levels. Officials have stated that the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing weather conditions to ensure the safety and comfort of students and staff.

Punjab has been experiencing scattered rainfall, but in its absence, temperatures have soared, creating sweltering and humid conditions across various districts. The combination of heat and poor air circulation has made outdoor activities, including school attendance, increasingly challenging for children.

Parents and school administrations have been advised to stay updated through official notifications and prepare accordingly for the reopening.

The holiday extension is applicable to all districts in Punjab without exception, covering both urban and rural educational institutions under the public and private sectors. The move ensures a unified academic calendar across the province.
