Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hoisted the national flag and laid a floral wreath at the Pakistan Monument on Thursday as part of the main Independence Day ceremony held at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
The ceremony, attended by senior political leaders and officials, began with sirens and the national anthem. Children dressed in traditional attire presented flowers to the prime minister, who warmly greeted them.
Shehbaz Sharif offered prayers for the martyrs who laid down their lives for the motherland, paid tribute to their sacrifices, and prayed for the country’s security and prosperity.
Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, federal ministers, and a large number of parliamentarians were also present at the event.
