PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has called the first meeting of the provincial cabinet, with the official agenda also released.
According to sources, the meeting—scheduled for November 14—will be the first formal session chaired by CM Sohail Afridi since assuming office.
Official sources said that 10 ministers, one special assistant, and two advisers have been invited to the meeting. The cabinet is expected to formally approve the declaration of the Peace Jirga held recently.
The 53-point agenda includes several key matters, such as the approval to replace 25 official vehicles for district and sessions judges and a proposal to increase toll taxes on the Swat Expressway by 20%.
Additionally, various resolutions passed by the KP Assembly will be presented for implementation. The meeting will also consider lifting the ban on the purchase of VIP vehicles for the KP Governor’s Office and approve the “One Farmer, One Cow” initiative aimed at boosting agriculture and the rural economy.
Approval for special funds to support the rehabilitation of displaced persons from Tirah and North Waziristan is also expected, to accelerate recovery efforts in the affected regions.
Moreover, the provision of a bulletproof vehicle for a Peshawar High Court (PHC) bench is part of the agenda. Performance reports from various departments will also be reviewed, while CM Afridi is expected to issue new directives to enhance governance and expedite development projects across the province.
