Ogra informed about diesel shortage in parts of country

The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has written to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) over diesel shortages reported in several parts of the country, alleging that an artificial shortfall has arisen after speculation about a possible price increase.

In a letter to the OGRA, the PPDA vice-chairman, Nauman Ali Butt, said that oil companies have restricted supplies in anticipation of a potential rise in the diesel prices and have repeatedly cancelled diesel orders placed by dealers.

According to the letter, the companies’ allocated quota is insufficient to meet diesel demand, creating a risk of shortages in various regions. The association urges the Ogra chairman and the Ministry of Petroleum to take notice of the situation and to require oil companies to supply the necessary quantities of diesel.
