The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Balochistan on Wednesday firmly denied reports about removal of the Balochistan chief minister, calling the claims “irresponsible, misleading and completely baseless.”
PPP Provincial President Sardar Umar Gurgej issued a strong statement, clarifying that there was “no truth whatsoever” in news suggesting that the party is considering replacing Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.
“The news broadcast regarding the Chief Minister of Balochistan is misleading, and the PPP strongly denies it,” Senator Gurgej said, stressing that neither the party leadership nor any organizational forum has taken up any such proposal.
He added that no discussion or decision on the matter has been made at any level within the party. “Such rumors are spread only to create anxiety and misunderstandings, and they have no relation to reality,” he remarked.
Senator Gurgej reaffirmed that the People’s Party believes in political stability, continuity of governance, and public service delivery in the province. He said the PPP is working closely with the provincial government, its coalition partners, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure Balochistan’s stability, development, and institutional strength.
“The party rejects any frivolous or incompletely informed report,” he added, urging media outlets and social media users to avoid spreading unverified claims.
Clarifying the party’s protocol, Senator Gurgej stated that if the PPP ever makes a policy decision of such importance, it would be communicated through an official announcement, not through rumors circulated without evidence.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central leader and Senator Mir Dostain Khan Domki claimed that a decision had been taken to remove Sarfraz Bugti as Chief Minister of Balochistan due to mismanagement.
Domki said the PPP had begun consultations for the election of a new chief minister, adding that the change would be brought from within the provincial assembly. He stated that the next chief minister would also be from the PPP.
PPP Parliamentary Secretary Liaquat Lehri confirmed the expected change in Balochistan’s leadership, saying the aim was to introduce a new face. He said the next chief minister should be someone capable of resolving Balochistan’s issues, as a majority of members wanted a change in the current provincial leadership.
