The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued official victory notifications for a total of 12 constituencies in the recent by-elections, while withholding the NA-96 Faisalabad notification over a reported breach of the election code of conduct involving Talal Chaudhry.
According to the commission, notifications have been issued for five National Assembly (NA) seats and seven Punjab Assembly seats. These results confirm the victories of candidates from Haripur, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Muzaffargarh.
However, the notification for NA-96 Faisalabad, where Bilal Chaudhry was the successful candidate, has been stopped. The ECP stated that the halt is linked to Talal Chaudhry’s alleged violation of the election code of conduct.
National Assembly by-election results confirmed
The Election Commission announced that Babar Nawaz Khan has won from NA-18 Haripur, securing the seat with an official notification issued. In NA-104 Faisalabad, Daniyal Ahmed was declared the winner.
Authorities also confirmed the victory of Hafiz Muhammad Noman from NA-129 Lahore, while Muhammad Tufail won from NA-143 Sahiwal. In NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan, Mahmood Qadir Khan emerged victorious.
The commission also stated that the notification for Bilal Chaudhry from NA-96 has been withheld.
Punjab Assembly results
Among Punjab’s provincial assembly seats, several winners were also confirmed.
In PP-73 Sargodha, Mian Sultan Ali Ranjha secured victory, while Ali Haider Noor Khan won from PP-87 Mianwali.
From Faisalabad’s constituencies:
- Azad Ali Tabassum won PP-98,
- Muhammad Tahir Pervaiz took PP-115, and
- Ahmed Shaheer was declared the winner from PP-116.
In PP-203 Sahiwal, Muhammad Hanif won the seat. Meanwhile, Mian Alamdar Abbas Qureshi emerged as the winner from PP-269 Muzaffargarh.
Notification withheld over code of conduct violation
The only pending result is from NA-96 Faisalabad, where Bilal Chaudhry’s notification has been halted.
The ECP stated that this action is directly linked to Talal Chaudhry’s violation of the electoral code, prompting further review before the final result can be confirmed.
On Wednesday, the ECP reported that voter turnout in the by-elections for six National Assembly and seven Punjab Assembly seats stood at 28.58%.
In NA-18 Haripur, turnout reached 50.82%. NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan recorded 32.61%, while NA-96 Faisalabad saw 26.46%. NA-143 Sahiwal registered 21.43%, and NA-129 Lahore reported 18.67%. NA-104 Faisalabad recorded 13.23% turnout.
