A fierce gun battle erupted late Wednesday night when terrorists launched an attack on a police post in the Qazi Talab area of Hangu, resulting in the martyrdom of three police personnel, officials confirmed.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Khan Zeb Mohmand, the fallen personnel have been identified as Havaldar Wahid Shah, Constable Abdul Samad and Constable Hekmat Shah. He said the police responded with full force, engaging the attackers in an intense gunfight that lasted nearly two hours.
During the exchange of fire, police succeeded in killing two terrorists, while several of their accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness. A search and strike operation has since been launched across the area to track down the fleeing militants.
In the wake of the attack, security has been significantly tightened at sensitive installations and key points throughout the district to prevent any further incidents.
DPO Khan Zeb Mohmand reiterated the resolve of the police force, stating that law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to maintaining peace at all costs. He vowed that operations against militant elements will continue “until the complete elimination of terrorism.”
