The 2nd International Boxing Championship is underway in Lahore with full enthusiasm, bringing together 44 boxers from 15 countries for four days of high-energy competition under the banner ‘Fight for Glory’.
The event is being held from Nov 26 to 29, drawing national and international attention to Pakistan’s growing sporting landscape.
Boxers from 15 countries arrive to warm welcome
Between November 20 and 23, 44 international fighters landed in Pakistan to participate in the championship. Athletes were warmly received upon arrival, highlighting Pakistan’s hospitality and commitment to promoting global sports.
Alongside the championship, organizers also hosted a boxing convention to celebrate the sport and bring together athletes, coaches and enthusiasts.
The event is being jointly organized by the Punjab government, the Lahore Corps and the Fauji Foundation.
Day 1 (Nov 26): Pakistan, Germany secure early wins
The opening day saw four boxers from Germany, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Pakistan competing in thrilling matchups.
Special guest Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, the Lahore Corps Commander, attended the contests.
Victorious boxers on Day 1 included Asim Zaman (Pakistan) and Zeena Nasr (Germany).
Day 2 (Nov 27): Intense bouts among 14 international fighters
Day 2 featured 14 boxers from the UK, Ghana, Dominican Republic, USA, Pakistan and Bangladesh. In highly competitive fights, the following boxers emerged victorious:
- Tom Dearing (UK)
- Jeremiah Peralta (Dominican Republic)
- Muhammad Waqas (Pakistan)
- Jahangir Khan (Pakistan)
- Steve Jeffard (USA)
- Imad Naseeb (UK)
- Raza Hamza (UK)
Punjab’s chief secretary attended the November 27 matches as the special guest.
Day 3 (Nov 28): Wins for fighters from Britain, Argentina, USA, South Korea
On November 28, 12 boxers from South Korea, Thailand, USA, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Philippines, UK, Nigeria and Bangladesh stepped into the ring. The victorious athletes included:

- Alberto Palmita (Argentina)
- Lawrence Newton (USA)
- Yakum (South Korea)
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attended Day 3 as the chief guest.
Day 4 (Nov 29): Pakistani Falcon Waseem set for headline bout
The championship will conclude on November 29, featuring boxers from Pakistan, Thailand, the UK, Morocco, France, Mexico and the USA.
The most anticipated fight of the event will see Pakistan’s Falcon, boxer Waseem, taking on his opponent in a major headline match.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will attend the final day as the special guest, marking a high-profile finish to the international tournament.
