LAHORE: The first phase of Pakistan’s Bowlers Development Camp has concluded at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, with emerging fast bowlers receiving focused technical training and guidance from the national coaching staff.
The camp, held from August 24 to 28, was designed to identify technical weaknesses and help young pacers improve their bowling skills under expert supervision.
Pakistan white-ball assistant coach Ashley Noffke worked closely with the fast bowlers throughout the camp, focusing on their individual techniques, areas requiring improvement and ways to develop greater consistency.
The final day brought additional attention to the promising bowlers, with Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson visiting the academy. Hesson observed the emerging pacers during a nets session and assessed their performances closely.
The head coach also shared technical advice with the players, offering guidance aimed at helping them develop their skills and prepare for the demands of international cricket.
Director High Performance Aaqib Javed also met the players on the concluding day and interacted with members of the coaching and playing group.
The camp ended with recognition for two standout performers. Peshawar Region’s Abuzar was named the best bowler of the camp, while Razaullah received the award for Bowler of the Camp.
The performances of the young pacers will provide the coaching staff with an opportunity to assess the next generation of Pakistan’s fast-bowling talent as the country continues to strengthen its player development programme.
The development programme will now shift its focus from pace to spin.
The second phase of the Bowlers Development Camp, dedicated to spin bowlers, is scheduled to take place at the National Cricket Academy from August 31 to September 4.
The initiative is part of Pakistan cricket’s wider effort to improve technical standards and create a stronger pipeline of bowlers capable of progressing to the national level.
