Sydney Sweeney faces scrutiny as Amanda Seyfried breaks silence

Amanda Seyfried has opened up about the intense public scrutiny her co-star Sydney Sweeney faces, expressing admiration for the Euphoria actress’s resilience.

Speaking to Who What Wear for its December cover story, the 40-year-old actress shared how protective she feels of Sweeney despite the young star’s growing independence.

Seyfried acknowledged the unique challenges Sweeney faces in the spotlight. “She’s got it so much harder than I ever did — not even close,” she said.
“She’s got a spotlight on her that I never had, never wanted. I can’t help but feel somewhat protective of her, though she doesn’t need my protection.”

The Mean Girls alum praised Sweeney’s maturity in dealing with criticism, noting she would have struggled with similar attention at Sweeney’s age.

Career choices and recognition

Amanda highlighted how Sweeney’s professional choices will define her as an actress:
“She’s gonna continue to make choices in her career that I think will define, or at least solidify, her as an actual actress because people are too distracted by all the other s*** that is created around her,” she said.

The two stars developed a close connection while filming their upcoming psychological thriller, The Housemaid, based on a novel by Freida McFadden.
Seyfried previously told People that they instantly bonded, sharing similar experiences in navigating public attention.
“I also probably give way too much unsolicited advice … I knew [Sweeney] appreciated it, but I was also like, ‘Take it with a grain of salt!’” she added.

The film is set to hit theatres on December 19.
