KP Governor Kundi vows no compromise on national interests despite border challenges

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that peace will be the priority for the province, adding that no compromise will be made on national interests despite difficulties related to the border.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Kundi said development work would be carried out, but maintaining peace would come first. He added that the government would cut funds, if necessary, to ensure peace.

The governor said the people of the province had emerged from a tunnel towards the light and that their suggestions would be heard.

Referring to the federal government’s policy on terrorism, Kundi said that for the past 13 years, those in the province had not taken ownership of policies issued by the federation to combat terrorism.

“We will take ownership,” he said, adding that he had previously been fighting with the federal government and would continue to do so.

Kundi also pledged to address gas load-shedding during winter and resolve the flour shortage in the province.

He said there were 17,000 vacant posts in the provincial police force and that he had directed the inspector general of police to proceed with recruitment and promotions.

Commenting on those who had been giving dates, the governor said they had already become discredited.

“I became famous from Karachi; it would have been better if I had become famous from Islamabad,” he remarked.
