Pakistan, Bangladesh reaffirm strong ties at OIC meeting

Top officials from Pakistan and Bangladesh reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Bangladesh’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Touhid Hossain to review the current state of relations and exchange views on regional and global developments.

The two sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory and resilience of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, underscoring the importance of continued engagement and cooperation. The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration across multiple sectors, with particular emphasis on high-level political exchanges, trade and economic ties, and educational cooperation.

Both leaders highlighted the need to further deepen people-to-people contacts and explore new avenues for mutually beneficial partnerships. They also exchanged perspectives on key regional and international issues of shared concern, reaffirming their commitment to working together at multilateral forums, including the OIC.

The meeting took place during the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, which was convened to deliberate on pressing issues facing the Muslim world. Officials described the interaction as cordial and constructive, reflecting the longstanding historical, cultural, and religious bonds between the two countries.
