Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday chaired a review meeting on the affairs of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) and directed that access to government facilities be made more convenient for citizens through the effective use of technology.
During the meeting, the prime minister instructed that all necessary stages of Hajj should be completely digitised from this year to ensure greater convenience for pilgrims. He also said that a QR-based feedback system for overseas Pakistanis would be reviewed soon.
The prime minister appreciated the extensive preparations made by the Ministry of Information Technology and other relevant ministries for the establishment of the Asan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad. He was briefed that all preparations to open the Asan Khidmat Markaz for citizens in the federal capital have been completed.
The meeting was informed that following the appointment of a new chief executive officer of NITB, the entire structure of the institution is being reorganised in line with modern requirements. Officials said a secure new application would soon be launched for all government sector institutions.
The briefing also highlighted that an integrated “One Patient, One ID” system is in the final stages of preparation to ensure timely and improved service delivery in hospitals. With the implementation of this system, hospitals are expected to perform better and patients will be able to receive improved care. Additionally, an analytics dashboard for the judiciary is being developed using big data.
The prime minister was informed that NITB is currently running more than 145 government websites, over 126 portals and more than 31 mobile phone applications.
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja and senior government officials attended the meeting.
