Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has officially announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), bringing an end to a distinguished 10-season career in the country’s premier T20 tournament, it was reported on Tuesday.
In a statement shared on his social media accounts, Malik said he thoroughly enjoyed every moment of his PSL journey, both on and off the field.
“After ten memorable years in the PSL, the time has come to conclude this chapter of my career,” he wrote, expressing gratitude for the experiences and opportunities the league provided.
The veteran all-rounder emphasized that his commitment to the development of cricket remains firm.
“My services for the betterment of cricket will always be available in the future,” Malik added.
It is worth noting that Shoaib Malik had earlier announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2015 and One-Day Internationals in 2019.
Although he has not formally retired from T20 Internationals, the 44-year-old has not represented Pakistan at the international level since 2021.
However, he continued to remain active in franchise cricket, featuring in the PSL and other global T20 leagues.
Malik is one of the few players to have participated in all 10 editions of the PSL.
Over the course of his PSL career, he represented Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators.
His final PSL appearance came in the 2025 season, where he turned out for Quetta Gladiators, marking the conclusion of a remarkable league career.
