LHC to publicly display judges’ daily performance in landmark transparency move

The Lahore High Court (LHC), led by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, has made the daily performance of subordinate judges public, marking a significant step toward judicial accountability and transparency.

In accordance with this reform, the court has created unique software that will make information about judicial performance available online. With just one click, any citizen will be able to view the number of cases that are filed, resolved, and still pending in each district court throughout the province of Punjab. The goal of this transparency initiative is to increase public confidence in the judiciary and hold judges responsible if they perform poorly or postpone justice.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum was briefed on the software’s features by the Additional Registrar (IT), who emphasized that the platform will give subordinate courts comprehensive, current performance metrics. The chief justice emphasized that the public has a right to know how judges are carrying out their duties while praising the IT team’s efforts. In order to make performance data easily accessible to citizens and litigants, she also ordered that the software be directly linked to the official LHC website.
The LHC is implementing this reform as part of larger judicial reforms to speed up the administration of justice. For instance, in order to decrease caseload backlogs and enhance court efficiency, the chief justice has also started a formal process to fill all authorized judge positions in the high court, including 18 open seats.
This initiative is a historic reform that aims to improve public accountability, increase judicial transparency, and use technology to make the legal system more accessible, responsive, and effective for citizens.
