Babar Azam breaks Virat Kohli’s T20I half-century record

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam etched his name into cricketing history on Sunday by becoming the leading fifty-scorer in men’s Twenty20 Internationals, surpassing India great Virat Kohli’s long-standing record.

The 31-year-old reached the milestone during Pakistan’s third T20I against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, scoring an unbeaten 50 off 36 balls, featuring three fours and a six.

The knock marked Babar’s 39th half-century in men’s T20Is, taking him past Kohli, who had accumulated 38 fifties before retiring from international cricket last year following India’s triumph at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Former India captain Rohit Sharma sits third on the all-time list with 37 T20I half-centuries, while Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is fourth with 31. Australia’s David Warner completes the top five with 29 fifties.
