According to sources, the Punjab government will purchase wheat at the rate of Rs. 4150 per mound.
The provincial government will buy wheat at an expensive rate and will supply it in the local market at Rs3,000 per mound.
The Punjab government will provide a Rs 1150 subsidy on the purchase of one mound of wheat.
On January 31, 2026, the Punjab government increased the daily release of official wheat stocks to 20,000 tons in a move aimed at stabilizing market prices and ensuring smooth supply across the province.
The decision has been welcomed by the Pakistan Flour Mills Association, whose group leader Asim Raza stated that the move has already led to a reduction of Rs400 per maund in wheat prices in local markets, bringing relief to consumers and flour millers alike.
