Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that after successfully reducing terrorism in the province, the government is now determined to eliminate criminal gangs operating in the Katcha (riverine) areas.
He made these remarks while addressing a police passing-out ceremony in Saeedabad, where he praised the efforts and sacrifices of the Sindh Police in maintaining law and order. He said that peace in the province was restored because of the bravery and dedication of police officers and personnel who fought against terrorism and crime.
The chief minister paid tribute to police officials who lost their lives in recent operations, including personnel martyred in Dadu and Counter-Terrorism Department officer DSP Ali Raza in Karachi. He recalled that in the past, terrorism incidents such as bomb blasts and target killings were common, but the situation has improved significantly due to continuous security operations.
Murad Ali Shah shared statistics highlighting police actions against criminals. He said that last year more than a thousand police encounters took place, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of robbers, while many others were arrested or surrendered. He added that similar operations have continued this year, showing the government’s commitment to controlling crime.
The chief minister expressed confidence that with the same courage and determination, Sindh Police would also succeed in eliminating bandits from the Katcha areas. He noted that while terrorism has largely been controlled in Sindh, security challenges still remain in other provinces such as Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
