Pakistan face England in second game of T20 WC’s Super Eight stage

Pakistan will play the second match of the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (WC) against England in Candy, Sri Lanka tomorrow, it was reported on Monday.

Pakistani team will today practise at nets. Pakistan needs to win two matches if they are to make it to the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe will face West Indies today in another match of the event.

The match will start at 6:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

The Pakistan team reached in Kandy on Sunday for their remaining two ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eights matches against England and co-hosts Sri Lanka.

The 2009 champions embarked on a three-hour road journey from Colombo and arrived in Kandy on Sunday evening.

The team will hold a three-hour-long practice session at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Monday afternoon to acclimatise to the conditions, as they will be playing their first T20 World Cup 2026 match at the venue when they take on England on Tuesday (tomorrow).

Following the England clash, Pakistan will lock horns with co-hosts Sri Lanka at the same venue on February 28 and would hope to win both their remaining Super Eights fixture to qualify for the semi-final.

Pakistan’s last match against New Zealand, which was to be played in Colombo, had to be abandoned due to rain.

The team lost to India, but bounced back to win its matches against the Netherlands and Namibia.

If Pakistan win both remaining games, they will move to five points, which would make their prospects of reaching the last four brighter.

If they win only one of the two, they would finish on three points and will then need other results to go their way.

One possible pathway for Pakistan to qualify with three points could open up depending on how the other fixtures play out, particularly if New Zealand collect points against England and Sri Lanka in a way that keeps the table tight and creates a two-team gap.

New Zealand are in a similar situation. The washout gives them a point, but they will still need wins in their remaining games to secure a semi-final spot.
