ISLAMABAD: Experts have welcomed Pakistan’s launch of a $1 billion Artificial Intelligence (AI) fund, describing it as a major step toward building the country’s future economy and strengthening the digital sector.
The Government of Pakistan, along with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), is playing a pivotal role in developing the nation’s digital industry.
Recently, the federal government announced the creation of a $1 billion AI fund, aimed at promoting modern technology and empowering the youth across the country.
Dr. Nadeem Javed, Vice Chancellor of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, welcomed the initiative, calling it both timely and forward-looking.
He emphasized that the project represents a crucial step in building a robust AI ecosystem in Pakistan.
According to Dr. Javed, under this initiative, AI curricula will be introduced in schools nationwide to equip students with essential skills for the future. By 2030, the program plans to provide 1,000 fully funded scholarships to students and train 1 million non-IT professionals in AI technologies.
He further explained that the AI fund will open new opportunities for youth to establish startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and micro-enterprises.
These measures are expected to drive innovation and entrepreneurial activity, strengthening the overall economic landscape of the country.
Experts note that these steps will be instrumental in establishing a sustainable digital economy in Pakistan. By acquiring modern skills and training in AI, young people will be able to play an effective role in the national economy, contributing to innovation, technological growth, and employment generation.
The initiative is seen as a forward-thinking move to ensure that Pakistan keeps pace with global technological advancements while empowering its youth to take active roles in shaping the future economic landscape. By combining education, training, and financial support, the AI fund aims to transform both the professional skills and entrepreneurial capabilities of Pakistan’s next generation.
