Pakistani actress Maya Khan has come to the defense of Veena Malik, insisting that the controversy surrounding the Ramadan transmission Astaghfaar should not fall solely on the star.
Speaking about the show, Maya emphasized that the responsibility also lies with the entire production team, including directors and crew, who guide how scenes are executed.
During an interaction with journalist Tabish Hashmi, Maya was asked which recent Ramadan transmission she considered the best.
While answering, she addressed the controversy surrounding Veena Malik’s show. “I’m not defending Veena Malik, but she wasn’t the only one responsible for what happened on Astaghfaar,” Maya said.
“The people directing the shoot, the producers, and the crew also share responsibility. She was following directions on set; it’s not fair to blame her alone.”
Maya further added that while she believes in taking accountability, the directors and other staff often instruct performers on poses and actions, implying that such decisions are collaborative.
She also noted that Veena Malik has not repeated such acts since the incident, highlighting that the star has been cautious moving forward.
