The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Shagai area of Lakki Marwat, killing six suspected terrorists after a brief but intense exchange of fire.
According to CTD officials from the Bannu region, the operation was launched following intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area. During the raid, security personnel engaged the suspects, leading to a gun battle that lasted around 40 minutes.
Authorities said that six terrorists were killed during the exchange of fire, while several of their accomplices managed to escape from the scene. A search operation was launched in the surrounding areas to track down the fleeing suspects.
CTD officials also recovered a cache of weapons from the militants, including four Kalashnikov rifles, two pistols, eight hand grenades, and an improvised explosive device (IED). The process of identifying the killed militants is currently underway.
Meanwhile, funeral prayers were offered at Police Lines for seven police personnel who were martyred in a recent blast targeting a police mobile in Lakki Marwat. Security has been heightened in the region following the incident.
