Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the importance of national unity and solidarity on Pakistan Day. In his message to the nation, he highlighted the historical significance of March 23, 1940, when the Muslims of the Subcontinent adopted the Lahore Resolution, paving the way for an independent homeland.
The president paid tribute to the sacrifices of the country’s founding generation. He said their struggle led to the creation of Pakistan, the establishment of strong state institutions, and a robust defense capability, including nuclear deterrence.
He recalled Pakistan’s resilience against terrorism and natural disasters, noting the courage demonstrated during past military operations such as Marka-e-Haq, which showcased the country’s determination to defend its sovereignty.
President Zardari also addressed ongoing challenges, including internal security and external threats. He vowed that Pakistan will continue to confront those who sponsor terrorism or attempt to destabilize the country through external proxies.
Highlighting the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, he condemned human rights violations and demographic manipulation by Indian authorities. He reiterated that Kashmir remains the unfinished agenda of Partition and called on the international community to support the right of self-determination for its people in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
