Awami National Party (ANP) President Aimal Wali Khan has called for immediate implementation of the 18th Amendment, saying strong provinces are the guarantee of a strong Pakistan.
Talking to media, Aimal Wali Khan said it was state’s responsibility was to provide relief to the people rather than suppress them.
He said the ANP had always raised its voice for people’s rights but faced restrictions and threats, questioning why only its leadership was being targeted while other political parties faced no such danger.
Aimal Wali Khan said going to the people was their fundamental right and the party would continue to approach the public for their future.
He warned that Pakistan was standing on “gunpowder” and said the country could not afford to delay important decisions.
He said the NFC was a constitutional right of the provinces and the 18th Amendment was the basis of provincial autonomy.
Aimal Wali Khan also expressed concern over the situation in the merged districts, saying the condition was unspeakable and resources were not reaching areas beyond Peshawar.
