The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has announced the national squad for the upcoming Davis Cup Juniors, set to take place in Shymkent from May 16 to 24.
The selection trials were held at the PTF Tennis Complex from March 30 to April 2, 2026, where 12 promising junior players competed for a place in the national team based on their rankings and recent performances. Following a rigorous evaluation process, the PTF selectors named Abubakar Talha, Hassan Usmani, and Zohaib Afzal Malik in the final squad.
Top-ranked junior Abubakar Talha was granted exemption from the trials in recognition of his outstanding achievements and consistent performances on both national and international circuits, including multiple titles in ATF and ITF junior events. His inclusion highlights his status as one of Pakistan’s most accomplished young tennis players.
Zohaib Afzal Malik emerged as one of the standout performers during the trials, remaining unbeaten throughout the competition to secure his place in the team. A student of LGS Phase 5 and backed by SA Group, Zohaib’s commanding display highlighted his growing potential on the national stage. Moreover, both Zohaib and Hassan Usmani also remained unbeaten throughout the trials.
All three selected players are trainees at the renowned ACE Tennis Academy. The players expressed their gratitude to the academy’s coaching staff, particularly its owner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, crediting his mentorship and professional guidance for their development and success.
PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Secretary Col (R) Zia-ud-din Tufail, and other federation officials extended their best wishes to the young athletes and their families, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to perform strongly at the international event.
