A recent Gallup survey has revealed overwhelming public support in Pakistan for the government’s efforts to secure a ceasefire between the United States, Iran and Israel, with a large majority also expressing hope for lasting peace in the region, it was reported on Friday.
According to the survey, 93% of respondents backed Pakistan’s role in promoting a ceasefire, while 80% said they were optimistic that peace could be achieved. The survey highlights growing public confidence in the country’s diplomatic initiatives at a critical time.
Conducted on 8 and 9 April, the survey found that 82 per cent of citizens were aware of the government’s efforts to broker a ceasefire. Meanwhile, 46 per cent reported hearing about what they described as a significant or strong agreement taking shape.
Support for Pakistan’s mediation role was particularly strong, with 72% of respondents expressing firm backing for the initiative. Only a small number of participants indicated reluctance towards the country’s involvement in diplomatic efforts.
The survey further showed that 80% of citizens believed the ceasefire would lead to peace, with 44% stating they were highly optimistic about the outcome. Respondents also expressed confidence in the national leadership, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir receiving notable approval for their roles.
On the international front, the survey pointed to a marked shift in global opinion in favour of Pakistan following the success of its mediation efforts. Around 70% of international sentiment was reported to have turned positive, with Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements receiving widespread appreciation.
Social media activity also reflected this trend, with a strong positive campaign emerging in support of Pakistan. The hashtag “Thank You Pakistan” gained global traction, as many credited the country with helping to prevent a wider conflict.
At the same time, the survey noted an increase in discussion worldwide regarding critical statements made by India’s foreign minister, adding another dimension to the broader diplomatic discourse.
The findings underscore Pakistan’s growing influence in international diplomacy and the strong domestic backing for its efforts to promote peace.
