Public transport fares drop in Punjab following cut in diesel price

LAHORE: Public transport fares in Punjab have dropped by up to 25 percent after diesel prices fell by Rs135 per litre.

Transport operators independently reduced fares to provide immediate relief to commuters, though the Punjab Transport Department has not yet issued an official notification.

Goods transport associations have also lowered charges, with one group cutting rates by 40 percent and the Mini Mazda Goods Transport Association reducing fares by 25 percent.
The reductions are effective across Punjab starting today.

Meanwhile, the Transport Department has called a meeting with transporters to discuss the possibility of further fare cuts.
