Field Marshal Asim Munir holds talks with Iran Speaker Ghalibaf in Tehran

Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir on Thursday held detailed talks with Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran, reported Press TV and Tehran Times.

According to the newspaper’s X handle, Speaker Ghalibaf held a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir but gave no further details.

 

Araqchi welcomes Pakistan’s Army Chief

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi welcomed Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in Tehran, underscoring strong bilateral ties and a shared commitment to regional peace.
In a message posted on his X account on Wednesday night, Araqchi expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in hosting dialogue and highlighted the depth of relations between the two countries, while reaffirming Tehran’s commitment to promoting stability in the region.

“Delighted to welcome Field Marshal Munir to Iran,” he said. “Expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s gracious hosting of dialogue, emphasizing that it reflects our deep and great bilateral relationship. Our commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region remains strong—and shared,” Araqchi added.

Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran at the head of a high-level political-security delegation.

In a post on his X account early on Thursday, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has urged the United States to commit to any peace agreement in Lebanon.

Ghalibaf said, “The completion and consolidation of a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon will be the result of the steadfastness and struggle of the esteemed Hezbollah and its heroic deeds, and the unity of the Axis of Resistance. And the United States must commit to the agreement.”

“The Resistance and Iran are one and the same entity, whether in war or in a ceasefire,” he said.
