Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to deepen cooperation in defence, security, and energy sectors following a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The two leaders held detailed discussions on bilateral relations and the evolving regional situation, with a strong focus on promoting peace and stability in the Gulf region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude for Qatar’s warm hospitality and thanked the Qatari leadership for the ceremonial escort provided by fighter jets to his aircraft upon arrival.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar, strongly condemning recent attacks in the region and calling for disputes to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening longstanding ties and expanding collaboration in key strategic sectors, particularly defence and energy, to enhance regional partnership and stability.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere at the Amiri Diwan, where both leaders exchanged views on pressing regional developments and the importance of coordinated efforts for peace.
Earlier, the prime minister was received in Doha with full protocol, including a guard of honour and a formal welcome by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. The city and airport were decorated with Pakistani flags in honour of the visit.
The prime minister’s delegation included senior officials such as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
