LAHORE: In a crucial move ahead of the business end of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11, Karachi Kings have added experienced leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood to their squad, aiming to boost their chances in the tightly contested mid-table race.
The franchise confirmed the signing in an official statement, highlighting Mahmood’s proven ability to break partnerships and control the middle overs—an area where the Kings have been looking to strengthen.
Known for his sharp leg-spin and deceptive googly, Zahid brings valuable PSL experience, having previously represented multiple teams including Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United, along with his earlier spells at Karachi Kings.
“Mahmood has been part of the Kings setup in previous seasons as well. His ability to provide breakthroughs in the middle overs will be a key asset as the tournament enters its decisive phase,” the franchise stated.
At 38, Zahid Mahmood remains one of the most seasoned spinners in the domestic circuit. His PSL record includes 15 wickets in 15 appearances, with a standout performance in PSL 9 where he picked up eight wickets in just six matches for Karachi Kings.
The Kings currently find themselves in a tense mid-table battle, sitting on six points after seven matches. With playoff qualification still wide open, the franchise is hoping that Zahid’s inclusion will bring balance and control to their bowling attack.
Karachi Kings are set to face Peshawar Zalmi in their next fixture at Gaddafi Stadium, a crucial encounter that could define their PSL 11 campaign. The team management believes that spin will play a decisive role on the Lahore surface, especially in the middle overs where matches often swing dramatically.
Fans are eager to see whether Zahid Mahmood’s experience can turn the tide for Karachi Kings at a critical stage of the tournament. With pressure mounting and every match carrying playoff significance, the Kings’ latest signing could prove to be a game-changing decision in their PSL 11 journey.
