Heatwave grips Punjab as temperature hits 40°C

Lahore and several other cities across Punjab are facing intense heat as dry weather conditions continue to push temperatures higher, making daily life difficult for residents.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the heat is gradually increasing across the province. In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 27°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 41°C today. The rising heat has started to disrupt normal routines, with many people avoiding outdoor activities during peak hours.

Strong sunshine and hot winds have made it hard for citizens to move around during the day. Many people are turning to cold drinks and shaded areas to escape the extreme weather. Experts say the ongoing dry spell and lack of rainfall are major reasons behind the sharp rise in temperature.

The extreme heat has also begun to affect infrastructure in some areas. Reports suggest that parts of certain roads in the city are softening due to the high temperature, raising concerns about possible traffic disruptions.

Weather officials have forecast that dry and hot conditions will continue in Lahore and other parts of Punjab over the next 24 hours. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight and take precautionary measures to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
