Naqvi orders citywide crackdown to reclaim Islamabad’s land

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring Islamabad to its planned form, declaring that the ongoing anti-encroachment drive will continue without discrimination or external pressure.

A large-scale operation is currently underway across the federal capital to remove illegal structures built on state land. As part of the campaign, an FC camp office constructed on a green belt near the Marriott area and Aabpara Chowk was demolished under the minister’s supervision.

Addressing officials during the operation, Naqvi said the drive is being carried out strictly in accordance with the law and will target all unauthorized constructions, regardless of the entity involved. He stressed that no institution, whether government or private, would be allowed to occupy or build on public land unlawfully.

The interior minister assured that while illegal encroachments would not be tolerated, arrangements would be made to provide an alternative legal site for the affected FC camp office.

Naqvi emphasized that Islamabad’s green belts and public spaces must be preserved, adding that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against land grabbers. He reiterated that the campaign would continue across the city until all encroachments are cleared and the capital’s original layout is fully restored.
