KARACHI: A Pakistani oil tanker carrying 80 million litres of diesel has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Gulf of Oman, according to shipping sources.
The vessel, named Khairpur and operated by Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, departed from Kuwait carrying the fuel consignment.
Sources said the ship was granted special clearance to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, amid heightened regional tensions and maritime restrictions. It is expected to arrive at Karachi port within the next two to three days.
Officials from Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority stated that the arrival of the vessel will further strengthen the country’s fuel reserves and help ensure stability in petroleum supply.
