The federal government is prepared to take some important decisions in the national budget for the next financial year, 2026-27, it was reported on Saturday.
In this connection, a meeting was held in Islamabad with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema in the chair.
The meeting discussed the proposal to announce effective and targeted facilities for exporters in the budget.
It also discussed the plan to introduce incentives for exporters based on their performances.
The meeting took stock of the policies introduced to increase the country’s exports.
Speaking on the occasion, Cheema said the government was determined to introduce effective and targeted facilities for exporters. “And in order to increase exports, not only will we have to reduce taxes, but also improve the infrastructure and consider other factors,” he opined.
The minister stressed the need for adopting an export framework, which is durable. “The government will provide all possible assistance to the industrial units meeting the export targets,” he assured, and added there was a need to pay attention to adding variety and value addition of export products.
“In order to ensure economic development driven by exports, the government will formulate a policy after taking all stakeholders into confidence,” Cheema assured.
Minister of State for Finance, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, secretary finance and other senior officials were also in attendance.
