Pakistani television actress Hiba Bukhari has addressed recent online criticism regarding her appearance at a low-profile event in the United Kingdom, clarifying that the situation was misinterpreted on social media.
Known for her strong performances in popular dramas such as Bholi Bano, Deewangi, Tarap, Fitoor, and Jaan Nisar, Hiba continues to enjoy a strong fan following. She is currently also being appreciated for her role in Humrahi, marking another on-screen collaboration with actor Danish Taimoor. Off-screen, she is married to actor Arez Ahmed and is a mother to a daughter named Eynur.
Speaking during a recent appearance on a podcast hosted by Shahnilah Razzaq, Hiba responded to the backlash she received over her “simple” styling at a UK engagement that was later widely circulated on social media.
She explained that the event was not a formal red carpet or meet-and-greet, but rather a small, family-oriented shop opening organized by a private family. According to her, she was invited under the impression that it would be an intimate gathering with a modest atmosphere rather than a large public function.
Hiba said she intentionally chose a minimal and traditional look in order to match the tone of the gathering. She emphasized that her styling decision was respectful and aligned with the nature of the event, where guests and hosts were present in a simple, family-like environment. However, once she arrived, the gathering unexpectedly attracted more attention, turning into a larger public moment than originally planned.
Addressing the criticism directly, she expressed disappointment over how quickly perceptions form on social media without context. She reiterated that she prefers to keep her public image grounded and understated, stating that humility has remained an important part of her personality despite her growing fame.
The actress further added that those who know her personally understand her tendency to avoid excessive styling unless required, and that she believes authenticity and comfort matter more than public judgment in such situations.
