Pakistan’s selection committee is reportedly weighing the option of excluding wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan from the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.
Reports said the decision was taken after consultations between head coach Mike Hesson and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi. Hesson is not in favor of Rizwan’s inclusion in the ODI squad following the T20 series.
Rizwan has played 103 ODIs for Pakistan, scoring 2,979 runs at an average of 40.08, including four centuries and 19 half-centuries. Behind the stumps, he has taken 113 catches and executed seven stumpings.
In March 2026, Rizwan scored 58 runs in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.
For the Australia series, Ghazi Ghouri, who debuted as a batsman in the third ODI against Bangladesh, may be joined by either Usman Khan or Mirza Saad Baig as the second wicket-keeper.
The Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 for the series.
