Rana Sanaullah rejects reports of changes to voting age

Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah dismissed reports suggesting the government was considering changes to the legal voting age, saying no such proposal was under review.

Speaking at a stadium inauguration ceremony in Faisalabad, Rana Sanaullah said the government had no intention of depriving young people of their right to vote.

“There is no proposal under consideration regarding the voting age limit, although different matters are being discussed,” he said.

The senior leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also said the government was preparing a major public relief package in the upcoming federal budget.

He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would personally announce the relief measures.

Rana Sanaullah said fuel and gas prices could decline if tensions between Iran and the United States eased and both sides reached an understanding.

He expressed optimism that inflation and poverty would soon decrease due to improving economic conditions in the country.

Calling for national unity, the adviser said Pakistan needed to maintain internal harmony and solidarity, adding that recent developments had enhanced the country’s international standing.

He said the Muslim world was increasingly placing trust in Pakistan and claimed the country’s political and military leadership was working to promote peace regionally and globally.

Rana Sanaullah also said global attention was focused on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, adding that recent achievements would help reduce unemployment and economic hardship in Pakistan.
