Transporters reduce fares by 5% to provide relief to passengers

Providing relief to passengers in the wake of cut in petroleum products’ prices announced by the government, public transporters have reduced fares by five per cent, it was reported on Saturday.

Public Transporters Southern Punjab President Rana Asghar has said that by reducing fares, transporters have provided direct relief to the people.

Welcoming reduction in the petroleum products prices, he, however, has said that the government should slash prices further so that both the masses and transporters could be provided more relief.

He has said that the transport sector is presently going through a crisis since it cannot meet its operational expenditures.

Asghar has said that transporters always stand with the government for the sake of national interest.

However, goods transporters could not decide whether to reduce fares or not due to Eidul Adha holidays.

They will meet today to take a decision in this regard.
