Punjab proposes allocation of Rs272b in running expenses in Budget 2026-27

The Punjab government recommended allocating more than Rs727 billion in running expenditure in the Budget 2026-27, it was reported on Wednesday.
According to details, a proposal has already been forwarded to increase the operating expenditure of Rs258.2 billion.
Rs100 billion is allocated for subsidies. The Punjab government also sought allocation of Rs 71.7 billion for payment of interest, Rs 16.8 billion for physical assets, Rs 64 billion for maintenance, and Rs 236.3 billion for block evaluation.
The Punjab government will focus on improving administrative infrastructure, service delivery, and basic infrastructure.
A proposal is also submitted to improve the performance of the government departments in the Budget 2026-27.
