KAKAMIGAHARA: India booked its place in the final of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup after defeating Pakistan 5-3 in a thrilling semi-final in Japan.
Both teams displayed attacking hockey throughout the match, producing an entertaining contest for spectators. However, the Indian side capitalized more effectively on key scoring opportunities and secured victory by a two-goal margin.
Pakistan fought hard and managed to score three goals, but India maintained its advantage and finished the match with a 5-3 win at the final whistle.
With the victory, the India men’s national under-18 field hockey team advanced to the tournament final, while the Pakistan men’s national under-18 field hockey team saw its hopes of reaching the championship match come to an end.
Despite the defeat, Pakistan’s young players impressed during the tournament and remain in contention for a podium finish.
