A new youth-led protest movement in India, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has emerged as a powerful voice against Prime Minister Modi’s 12-year rule.
The movement’s leaders Abhijeet Dipke said that the country’s politics have long been limited to Hindu-Muslim debates, while fundamental issues like unemployment, education and economic opportunity have faded into the background.
According to the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times, the Cockroach Janata Party has taken the position that the Hindu-Muslim narrative has been the focus of national political debates for the past 12 years, due to which the real challenges faced by the youth have been ignored.
Representatives of the movement have warned that the government should take serious steps regarding the education, employment, and future of the youth instead of using Hindu-Muslim cards.
CJP representatives said that it is time to change the country’s priorities and focus public attention on the real issues.
The CJP has announced that following the resignation of the Indian Education Minister, it will present a comprehensive agenda for educational reforms and creation of new employment opportunities to effectively highlight the demands of the younger generation.
According to international observers, the growing anger among young people in India has challenged the ruling party’s political narrative. The younger generation now wants attention on issues such as employment, inflation, education, and economic development, rather than religious and sectarian debates.
According to experts, some circles tried to give this protest movement a Hindu-Muslim color, but the vast majority of youth limited their demands to economic and social issues.
Observers say the Gen Z movement marks a new trend in Indian politics, sparking a new debate about the country’s political system and government priorities
