NCCIA Punjab arrests 10 suspects for online harassment, blackmail of women

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Punjab has arrested 10 suspects during operations in Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad for allegedly harassing and blackmailing women online, it was reported on Saturday.

According to officials, the suspects were involved in various cybercrime activities, including online harassment, blackmail, misuse of personal data, and the creation of fake digital content.

Mobile phones and other digital evidence were recovered from the accused, who was taken into custody for forensic examination.

In one case, a suspect identified as Fakhar was arrested in Faisalabad for allegedly blackmailing his former wife by sending her private photos and videos to relatives.

In another case, authorities arrested a suspect named Haseeb, who is accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to create fake images of a former friend and extorting Rs2 million from the victim through blackmail.

Director NCCIA Punjab Muhammad Ali Wasim said the agency remained committed to protecting women from online abuse and cyber exploitation.

He added that indiscriminate action against individuals involved in harassment, blackmail, and other cybercrimes would continue across Punjab.

The NCCIA urged citizens, particularly women, to report cyber harassment and blackmail incidents promptly so that legal action can be taken against those responsible.
