Senator Faisal Vawda on Monday demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Industries, Haroon Akhtar, and the Secretary Industries, alleging irregularities in a vehicle-related matter that he described as a major financial scandal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking on the issue, Vawda claimed that a scandal involving approximately Rs1.5 billion had come to light and called for accountability of those responsible.
He alleged that the matter was serious enough to warrant criminal proceedings, describing it as a case that could lead to arrests.
The senator further accused the Engineering Development Board (EDB) of misusing its authority and powers in connection with the alleged irregularities.
Vawda said those involved should be held accountable and reiterated his demand for the resignations of the special assistant and the industries secretary.
