Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mehmood Langrial on Wednesday said that 9,000 Pakistani citizens held bank deposits worth Rs750 billion but filed zero tax returns.
A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance was held under the chairmanship of MNA Syed Naveed Qamar.
During the meeting, the Chairman of FBR made a shocking revelation and stated that 98.9 percent filers willfully showed less income.
Rashid Mehmood Langrial said that 80 percent of filers showed costly property in returns, after which the Federal Board of Revenue decided to introduce a faceless tax filing system.
This system will help to discontinue any connection between tax officials and taxpayers.
