QUETTA: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Quetta has sentenced Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Mahrang Baloch to life imprisonment in a case related to the killing of a security personnel in Gwadar. The court also handed a life sentence to another accused, Sibtullah, in the same case.
According to details, the case was heard through an online trial conducted from District Jail Quetta. Both accused were nominated in connection with an incident that occurred during a protest in Gwadar organized by the BYC.
The prosecution stated that a security official lost his life after being hit by stones during the protest. The case was subsequently registered and taken up under anti-terrorism laws, leading to a detailed legal process in the ATC.
After completion of the trial proceedings, the court announced its verdict, awarding life imprisonment to both Mahrang Baloch and Sibtullah. Authorities maintained strict security arrangements around judicial and prison facilities during the hearing.
The verdict represents a significant development in a high-profile case linked to protest-related violence in Balochistan, drawing widespread attention due to the prominence of the accused and the nature of the incident.
