According to Balochistan Interior Minister’s Media Affairs Adviser Babar Yousafzai, the armed attackers came from the Zarghoon Ghar area and launched an assault on Killi Babri in the Hanna Urak region. The attack led to an exchange of gunfire between the armed men and local residents.
Yousafzai said police and other law enforcement personnel reached the scene immediately after receiving reports of the incident. A clearance operation is currently underway to secure the area and ensure public safety.
The violence comes after a separate shooting incident in which a family from Karachi, returning after visiting Quetta, was attacked. The husband was killed while his wife sustained injuries.
The firing and the tense security situation also left several tourists and visitors stranded in Hanna Urak and nearby areas, preventing them from leaving safely.
Meanwhile, residents of Hanna Urak have continued a protest sit-in on Airport Road in Quetta for more than 16 hours. The demonstrators are demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the shooting incident and are calling for them to be brought to justice.
Protesters have blocked Airport Road near a local park, causing major disruption to traffic in the area. The road closure has significantly affected daily commuters, with students, office workers, and travelers heading to Quetta Airport facing long delays and serious inconvenience.
Authorities are monitoring the situation as security operations continue in the affected area. Officials have not yet released further details about the attackers or confirmed whether any arrests have been made. The clearance operation remains ongoing, while efforts are focused on restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.
