Sui Southern Gas Company’s Kotri Zone has conducted a major operation against gas theft across various areas of the Kotri Site and Khuda Ki Basti. The raid uncovered a gas theft network estimated to be worth 10 million rupees per month.
During the crackdown, SSGC teams successfully disconnected approximately 2,000 illegal households.
Officials reported that the gang involved in the theft had siphoned gas by damaging 4-inch and 6-inch main pipelines through the installation of clips. The stolen utility was subsequently sold illegally.
As part of the operation, law enforcement teams seized thousands of metres of rubber gas pipes and clips, taking them into custody.
Senior General Manager Sindh-Balochistan Madni Siddiqui confirmed that the theft was concentrated within illegal residential colonies in Kotri. He stated that the 2,000 households caught with illicit connections were causing a monthly loss of 10 million rupees.
Siddiqui added that lenient legal frameworks applied to domestic consumers were serving to encourage such theft.
