The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has decided to adopt a strict fitness policy as preparations continue for the upcoming Hockey World Cup, making it clear that no compromises will be made on players’ physical condition.
In a major step ahead of the tournament, the federation has handed full authority for selecting the World Cup squad to the foreign coaching staff. The coaches will evaluate every player before making their final selections.
All players attending the national training camp will undergo comprehensive fitness tests, and detailed fitness reports will be prepared for each member of the squad. Only those who meet the required fitness standards will be considered for selection in the final World Cup team.
The national hockey team’s training camp is currently under way in Islamabad, where the foreign coaches are assessing players’ fitness through two daily training sessions as part of the squad’s preparations for the tournament.
