Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has reiterated his party’s strong stance against terrorism, paid tribute to the country’s martyred security personnel, and called for national unity against militancy, it was reported on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media at the Dahgal checkpoint on Adiala Road, Gohar described terrorism as a “curse” and said the nation’s martyrs were its true heroes whose sacrifices could never be compensated.
He praised the armed forces for their commitment, saying soldiers were laying down their lives for the country, and their sacrifices must not be dragged into political debates.
He said politicians should exercise caution while discussing martyrs and avoid using the issue for political purposes.
Referring to remarks reportedly made by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Gohar said he had not listened to the full speech but disagreed with the comments made about the martyrs.
The PTI chairman reiterated that his party considered the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) to be backed by India, alleging that the group and India’s RAW were working together against Pakistan.
He claimed that India had intensified a proxy war inside Pakistan following what he described as its setback in May 2025, adding that the entire nation stood united against terrorism and that there could be no compromise on Pakistan’s security.
Commenting on PTI’s political affairs, Gohar said the party founder’s sisters had become disappointed with the existing system and had every right to launch a peaceful street movement in support of their brother.
He maintained that all cases against the PTI founder were politically motivated and said the party’s parliamentary and political committees would decide its course of action regarding the protest movement announced for August 5 by opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
On the case involving Aleema Khan, Gohar said he hoped the proceedings would not be rushed, arguing that any adverse decision after the imprisonment of the PTI founder and his nephew could create a negative public perception.
He also called for the restoration of family meetings with the PTI founder, claiming that no family member had been allowed to meet him for the past 270 days.
Addressing the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gohar said PTI’s decision to boycott elections remained in place but could be reviewed if conditions improved.
He said the party supported the demands raised by the Action Committee but opposed violence and bloodshed, stressing that every bullet fired ultimately harmed Pakistanis. He added that PTI had proposed allowing opposition leaders to visit AJK to help find a peaceful solution to the crisis.
Speaking on Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, Gohar said Pakistan had supported Afghanistan for decades but had been disappointed over the years.
He said Pakistan had the right to expect Afghanistan not to provide shelter to groups hostile to Pakistan and urged the Afghan authorities to decide the future direction of bilateral relations.
